Summer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, and what better way to do that than by attending a free concert in the park? Outdoor concerts are a staple of summertime and offer a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and music lovers to come together and enjoy live music in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.
This summer marks the 48th consecutive year of The Valley Cultural Foundation's free concerts in Warner Park. Concerts take place on Sunday afternoons beginning at 5:30 pm, with an opening act from Valley Cultural Foundation’s Emerging Artists Showcase performing original work. The Headline act will follow, gracing the stage from approximately 6:30 pm until 8:15 pm.
Here are some tips to help you make the most of your free summer concert experience:
-
Plan ahead: Check the event calendar for a full list of performers and dates. This will give you a better idea of the types of music being offered, so you can plan accordingly. You can find me there on July 23rd for Queen Nation!
-
Dress appropriately: Summer concerts are held outdoors, so be sure to dress comfortably and bring sunscreen, hats, and other essentials to protect yourself from the sun.
-
Pack a picnic: Many parks that host free concerts also have picnic areas, so why not pack a picnic basket with some delicious treats and drinks? It's a great way to make the most of the evening and enjoy a meal with friends and family. Not a picnic-packer? Don't fret, as there will be several food trucks and food booths ready to serve you a variety of tasty dishes.
-
Arrive early: It's always a good idea to arrive early to secure a good spot for the concert. This will also give you time to grab a bite to eat, check out the local vendors, and chat with friends.
-
Have fun! The most important thing is to enjoy yourself and have a great time at the concert. Whether you're there to dance, sing along, or simply relax and listen to the music, the goal is to have fun and make some great summer memories.
So whether you're a music lover or just looking for a fun summer activity, there's something for everyone at these outdoor concerts.
